The City of Fairview hired GreenWorks to design and provide construction documents and observation for a park site 2 acres directly across from Fairview City Hall. With large open turf areas, and a continuous perimeter path along native trees and shrubs, the park functions as a passive open space for strolling, enjoying the native creek environment, or eating a quiet lunch under the trees. Secondly, structures and a formal walkway provide an active community-meeting place, concert venue and children’s play area. With Fairview Creek forming the southern boundary we designed a generous buffer of native plantings to set the backdrop for these activities and protect the water quality of the creek. Native plantings form buffers which reduce over watering and ensure the survival of existing trees on site. Active use areas were located closest to the street and adjoining development. The design minimizes the maintenance requirements for the City of Fairview.
