GreenWorks created a new streetscape gateway to Grants Pass along the historic Rogue River Highway. Planning and design work for this project builds upon the theme of the river, which is a central feature in Grants Pass. Various elements of the streetscape incorporated into the river theme were pavings, plantings, lighting, stormwater facilities, site furnishings, bus stop and shelter and other components of the pedestrian environment. Sidewalks meander gently, appearing to intertwine with an adjacent stormwater swale conveying adjacent road runoff. Two new plazas designed at an intersection corner form a gateway with pedestrian seating and public art. Custom benches designed for the plazas and bus shelter borrow the imagery of bridges to inform their design.
