Taralon is a 97-acre development by Newland Communities located in Happy Valley, Oregon. Green Works, P.C. provided master planning and landscape architectural services for street layout, open space design, stormwater planning, and planting design with a strong sustainable design emphasis. Stormwater is filtered through a bioswale, which also serves as a community amenity and integral component of the open space and trail network. The filtered stormwater is used to recharge a series of interconnected wetlands, which also enhance the rural neighborhood. The roads, trails, alleys, and pedestrian corridors maximize connectivity of the neighborhood and mirror the hydrologic and ecologic connectivity provided in the open space tracts. The sustainable design focus also preserved existing forest tracts, promoted native plantings, and provides connections to Rock Creek.
