George Rogers Park – Lake Oswego, Oregon

George Rogers Park

GreenWorks provided design services for this popular park located in Lake Oswego along the Willamette River. Services included design development and construction drawings for a canoe launch, barbeque and picnic area improvements, beach access and restoration, and habitat improvements. The project design creates visual and physical connectivity and unifies areas within the park. A boardwalk connects the barbeque and the canoe launch areas with overlooks to the public beach. With the removal of existing pavings, the design implements mitigation plantings for the floodplain and greenway areas.

The stone furnace in Rogers Park is the only surviving iron furnace west of the Rocky Mountains, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The furnace was used to build Oregon’s rail and water systems, as well as cast-iron architecture still visible on some of Portland’s buildings.
