Steigerwald National Wildlife Refuge Interpretive Center – Washougal, Washington

Steigerwald National Wildlife Refuge Interpretive Center

GreenWorks provided site planning, programming and landscape architectural design services for this new interpretive and visitor center at the west end of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. In addition to helping visitors orient themselves to the Columbia Gorge, the center and its site facilities will help interpret the Steigerwald Wildlife Refuge and the efforts of the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Restoration of open water wetlands, wet meadow and Columbia River Bottomlands will be integral to the visitor’s experience. This project received an Oregon Chapter ASLA Merit Award for Environmental/Sustainable Projects in 2002.
