In collaboration with the City of Gresham, the Boys & Girls Club of Portland will expand youth service programs into the Rockwood neighborhood. Located at the intersection of SE Stark Street and SE 165th Avenue in Gresham is an almost 4-acre site that was formally used for a commercial nursery and a landscape company. A new 28,000 sq. ft. Boys & Girls Club including 7,000 sq. ft. adaptive reuse of an existing building and 21,000 sq. ft. of new building with a full-size gymnasium is proposed for development on this site.
The site development surrounding the new Boys & Girls Club youth facility provides programmatic and site specific responses to the various physical and environmental influences within and surrounding the site. Programmatic goals for the site development include: parking and drop-off areas, an inviting and flexible courtyard space at the building’s main entrance, half-street improvements, new landscaping, and a play field that hosts primarily youth soccer events.
Holst Architecture is leading the effort and providing architectural services. GreenWorks is providing site design and landscape architectural services, and TM Rippey is providing the civil engineering for this project.
