Jim Figurski, PLA, FASLA, CLARB, LEED AP
Jim Figurski is a Landscape Architect who believes the planning and design of public spaces, sustainable communities, infrastructure and protection of natural resources has a significant impact on the quality of life and economic well-being of everyone. Jim uses design to bring together natural resources and the built environment in a harmonious and healthful manner.
For nearly 40 years Jim has collaborated with diverse multidisciplinary teams and agencies to find a successful balance in the creation, renovation, and restoration of more than sixty parks; ten community centers; a covered ice skating and hockey facility; and the planning and design of driving ranges, maintenance facilities, and clubhouses at each of Portland Parks & Recreation’s four public golf courses. His leadership has extended to numerous community boards and commissions including Oregon State Landscape Architects Board and the Oregon Chapter and National association of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Jim’s commitment to his work and the profession has earned him awards from Bend Parks and Recreation District, ASLA, City of Portland, and many other organizations.
GreenWorks has given Jim the opportunity to work with generations of like-minded individuals in a collaborative and supportive culture; planning, creating, restoring and expanding the kinds of places (and thinking) that make the places we live, work, and play in that much better for us and the world.
Landscape Architecture is not just a job for Jim—it’s a lens for looking at and learning from the world around him, whether that’s fly-fishing, traveling, gardening, or sitting with Linda on the deck with a glass of wine in hand watching the light filter through the trees as the sun sets on the Cascades.
