Works / Transportation – Green Streets Chestnut Lane Assisted Living Center and Light Rail Pedestrian Access / Gresham, Oregon

chestnut lanelt

This green street project implemented for the City of Gresham is the result of a private-public partnership, whose goal was to provide a pedestrian linkage between the new Chestnut Lane Assisted-Living Center and the existing Cleveland Light Rail Station. The project incorporates a half-street improvement which was required for the pedestrian access improvement. The project funding came through a federal community block that specifically required street runoff pollution reduction. This drove the green street approach to ROW improvements. Additionally, the project included design for sidewalks, storm drainage, and landscaping improvements. GreenWorks coordinated with the property owner, Tri-Met, and the City of Gresham to create a design solution addressing various objectives and design standards. Stormwater runoff from the street is treated with flow- through landscape planters, prior to removal through in the City’s stormwater system. Our specification for native plantings will minimize future maintenance requirements.
