Zidell_Context_MapThe Zidell Yards is a 33-acre recently remediated brownfield in the 120-acre South Waterfront District of Portland, the site of existing and former industrial uses. With its commitment to explore new applications of green infrastructure in our urban environments, the City of Portland, supported by ZRZ Realty, applied for U.S. Environmental Protection Agency technical assistance to develop green infrastructure scenarios for the Zidell Yards site. GreenWorks led a collaborative team in a workshop-driven planning process to develop three distinct scenarios that can be implemented within the framework of a 15- to 20- year development master plan. These scenarios apply green infrastructure solutions that capitalize on infiltration and surface conveyance with the goal of exceeding existing regulatory requirements for stormwater management and providing creative solutions with multiple community benefits.
This project won the 2014 ASLA National Honor Award.
