Works / Community Place Making Tanner Springs Park / Portland, Oregon

portland_tanner-springs-park_reduced-for-webnorth_tspGreenWorks collaborated with Atelier Dreiseitl of Germany to design Tanner Springs Park, an urban park in Portland’s Pearl District. Situated on a former industrial, brownfield site, the park was designed to daylight Tanner Springs and provides an oasis with a wetland focus in the heart of the district. The design process was highly interactive involving the citizens of Portland through a series of public workshops. Numerous sustainable measures were incorporated into the design, including native plant species; innovative stormwater management strategies; and an art wall with reclaimed/recycled railroad rails, recycled glass, and Belgian block cobblestones.
