A Move with the Benefit of Strengthening GreenWorks Presence in Central and Eastern Oregon

When GreenWorks began our work, we saw the need for smart design and truly sustainable solutions to pressing problems. Since 1987, we have been privileged to be a part of the Portland Design community.

After a year of global pandemic and increasing climate change, one thing is becoming even more clear to me: The practice of landscape architecture is vital because it connects people with nature. The functions and values of parks, trails, and open space were highlighted over the last year of quarantine, devastating wildfires, and a barrage of grim and sad news. We all needed places to exercise, pause, reflect, and recharge. Some of us are fortunate to have gardens that meet some of these needs but all of us can use some time in the trees to recharge.

I’m writing this along Whychus Creek in Central Oregon, where I’ve recently relocated. I’m here because I’ve always loved this place, and it’s a great opportunity for me to help GreenWorks take an important step towards our firm goals. I’ll be helping us strengthen our capacity here in Central Oregon and enjoying hikes around Black Butte, fly fishing on the Metolius, and scones at Angeline’s Bakery! I look forward to continuing to grow GreenWorks’ presence in the high desert, the Cascades, the Columbia plateau, the Klamath Basin, and beyond.

One of the great pleasures in my work is the strong relationships with clients and firms my colleagues and I at GreenWorks have formed over the past 33 years. This opportunity will allow me to strengthen relationships in Central and Eastern Oregon, a place our firm has always enjoyed working, alongside our friends in the Willamette Valley, in Western Oregon, and in Southwest Washington.

I will continue to be present in the Willamette Valley, and I’ll work with Managing Principal Gill Williams and Principal Paul Agrimis to continue to guide business at the Portland office. Associate Principals Jason King and Jennifer D’Avanzo and Senior Associate Ben Johnson will continue to expand their leadership roles as our firm grows. This is an exciting time, as GreenWorks is also settling into our new office in the Central Eastside Industrial District. When it is safe to do so, we’ll invite you over.

GreenWorks is proud of our ever-expanding portfolio of projects connecting people with nature. It has been an honor to see the work we’ve done now stretch across the Pacific Northwest: the Willamette Valley, communities along the Columbia River, Central Oregon, the Puget Sound region, the Oregon Coast, and even stretching down to the Klamath River in Northern California.

I’m eager to see what’s next in store for our wonderful colleagues here at GreenWorks. Next time you’re in Central Oregon, let’s catch up.
