GreenWorks prepared a master plan for Battle Creek Park, a 56-acre property in South Salem on the site of a former golf course. The City of Salem acquired the property, which features creeks, wetlands, trees, and open space, to provide both flood mitigation for the adjacent neighborhoods and public recreation. GreenWorks led a multidisciplinary team to explore options to integrate these two functions. Based on feedback gathered from a robust public outreach program, GreenWorks developed three conceptual site improvement options focused on providing flood retention, habitat improvements, and recreational amenities. The final Master Plan was approved in 2020.
