Newell Creek Canyon encompasses 233 acres of protected natural area in Oregon City and Clackamas County along Oregon Highway 213. Metro selected GreenWorks to design, document, and permit a day use area and multi-use trail system within the canyon, which includes sensitive natural features such as vegetated corridors, wetlands, and streams. GreenWorks assessed the requirements both for making improvements within the Geologic Hazards Overlay Zone (GHOZ) and for mitigating impacts within the Natural Resource Overlay District (NROD). The project opened to the public in early 2022.
