GreenWorks partnered with the Oregon Zoo to enhance the Black Bear habitat, improving both the animal experience and visitor engagement. The project focused on developing a new climbing structure and related habitat upgrades that reflect the natural behaviors and environmental needs of black bears while ensuring long-term durability and safety.

GreenWorks led the landscape architectural design process—from schematic design through construction support—collaborating closely with zoo staff, engineers, and fabricators. The design integrates habitat enrichment elements, updated circulation routes, and improved slope stabilization within the exhibit area. Using 3D modeling and careful site analysis, the team balanced animal welfare, maintenance access, and visitor views to create a more dynamic and naturalistic habitat.
