Hood River Waterfront Park

GreenWorks provided master planning and design services for Hood River’s Waterfront Park, a 6-acre destination located north of downtown between the Hood River Event Site and “The Hook,” a protected harbor for learning windsurfing. Situated on land donated by the Port of Hood River, the park strengthens the community’s connection to the Columbia River through a family-friendly public gathering space designed to accommodate a wide range of recreational and community uses. Our team provided design services for a variety of amenities, including beach and swimming access to the Columbia River, innovative children’s play areas, and flexible open spaces that support large community events and festivals. In addition, the park reclaims eight hundred feet of riverbank, laying back the slope and restoring the river’s edge with a wide variety of native riparian plants. Located north of adjacent commercial properties, the park has improved connectivity to the waterfront while contributing to economic development and commercial revitalization in the surrounding area.
