Vietnam War Memorial

GreenWorks was honored to create immersive, 3D visualizations of a proposed Vietnam War Memorial on the Oregon State Capitol grounds. The memorial is a tribute to Vietnam veterans, and a place to remember the hard lessons and the immense costs of the war. The non-profit group The Fund for a Vietnam War Memorial on the Oregon State Capitol Grounds hopes to have the memorial completed by Veterans Day, 202. The video and still image visualizations we created will help the group raise funds.

The GreenWorks team worked to enliven existing two-dimensional drawings by using 3D rendering software to build three-dimensional objects up from the ground. Once the 3D objects were built, they were brought into a rendering software known as Lumion to provide texture, movement, shadows, vegetation, people, and cars.

The design includes a set of black granite columns listing names of all Oregonians who died in the war; four benches to honor the Rowden, Wright, Evans and Johnson families, Oregon families who each lost two sons in the war; stations honoring all Missing in Action (MIA) and Prisoners of War (POW) from all conflicts; a sculpture depicting a nurse attending to a wounded soldier; a marsh with vegetation evocative of a coastal lowland; a sculpture by Libby Carruth, an Oregon artist, depicting the struggles of the returning Vietnam veterans; a large area for gatherings and discussions; a memorial stone to honor the six Oregonians who died in Operation Desert Storm; a memorial monument to the 6,000+ Oregon Gold Star Families; and a display to honor all Purple Heart recipients from Oregon.
