Iryna Volynets is a Landscape Designer at GreenWorks who works with cities, agencies, and communities to create public landscapes that are functional, resilient, and meaningful to the people who use them.

Iryna believes that great public space design comes from the process, from understanding land, culture, and multilayered history before a single line is drawn.

Iryna has led design and technical documentation for city parks, public plazas, and recreational facilities from concept through construction, and partnered with multi-disciplinary teams across the U.S., Norway, and Ukraine to deliver award-winning civic and landscape projects.

She has also served as founding partner of an international design studio, leading the winning competition entry for the National Memorial to the Heavenly Hundred Heroes in Kyiv, alongside additional award-winning work for the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Information Center in Kyiv, Ukraine and campus design for the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, Ukraine.

Iryna holds a PhD in Landscape Architecture from the University of Oregon, is a licensed architect in Ukraine, and was a Fulbright Scholar.

Iryna loves working at GreenWorks because it lets her bring a decade of international design experience to bear on projects that shape everyday public life in Oregon communities.

When Iryna is not designing landscapes that bring people together, she can be found exploring the outdoor life and Pacific Northwest with her son and husband.
