Mirror Pond Trail and Bank Improvement Project Honored as APWA National Project of the Year

GreenWorks is proud to announce that the Mirror Pond Trail and Bank Improvement Project has been recognized as the American Public Works Association (APWA) National Project of the Year. This honor celebrates the outstanding collaboration, design innovation, and community impact behind this transformative project in the heart of downtown Bend.

The GreenWorks team, alongside partners HDR and R&W Engineering, worked closely with the Bend Park and Recreation District to restore and enhance one of Bend’s most beloved public spaces. The project improves access and mobility along the Deschutes River Trail, restores riverbank habitat, and creates safer, more enjoyable spaces for community use.

At the APWA Conference in Bend, GreenWorks Founder and Principal Mike Faha joined Michael Roberts and Jose Banuelos of HDR and Sam Russum of R&W Engineering to lead a tour and technical presentation highlighting the design process and the importance of balancing recreation, ecology, and accessibility within this high-traffic river corridor.

We’re incredibly proud of our team and partners for their dedication to creating meaningful, resilient public spaces that connect people to nature and each other.
