Gordy Jolma Family Natural Area Master Plan

The Gordy Jolma Family Natural Area Master Plan project, led by Clark County and in collaboration with the Cowlitz Indian Tribe, aims to establish a master plan for a 113-acre site, formerly developed as a golf course, that was purchased by the County in 2022 with Conservation Futures funding. The park planning effort is happening in conjunction with the restoration of Salmon Creek, which runs through the property.

GreenWorks is collaborating with Clark County and the Cowlitz Tribe to integrate the goals of the park and restoration projects. This effort aims to provide improved recreational opportunities at the park and access to those amenities for the surrounding community while incorporating the floodplain reconnection and habitat enhancement goals of the concurrent Salmon Creek Reconnection Project.

This project demonstrates GreenWorks’s experience collaborating with organizations that may have differing goals, and harmonizing those goals to meet needs of all affected parties. Further, this project showcases the ability of the team at GreenWorks to translate unified project goals into practical designs, such as large-scale trail networks, overlooks, play areas and other public amenities that connect people to nature.
