2025 NW Youth Careers Expo

GreenWorks Inspires Future Designers at the 2025 PWA Youth Career Expo

GreenWorks had the privilege of once again participating in the PWA Youth Career Expo at the Oregon Convention Center—an event that continues to be the Pacific Northwest’s premier career-exploration experience for high school students in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Hosted by the Portland Workforce Alliance, the Expo brings together thousands of students with industry professionals across a wide range of fields, offering insight into real-world careers and professional pathways.

This year, Jeannine Davis returned to the Expo alongside Mikayla McKone to represent GreenWorks and the profession of landscape architecture. Together, they connected with hundreds of curious, motivated students who were excited to learn how design plays a role in shaping the world around them.

The energy at the event was contagious. Jeannine and Mikayla spoke with students who were not only eager to explore careers in design, ecology, and sustainability, but also recognized some of GreenWorks' built projects in their own neighborhoods. These moments sparked conversations about the real-life impact of landscape architecture—how it merges creativity, environmental stewardship, and community needs to design public spaces people love.

The team shared stories, project visuals, and insights about the path to becoming a landscape architect. Many students were intrigued by the blend of science, art, and community involved in the work. From climate resilience and green infrastructure to parks, plazas, and schoolyards, the conversations were dynamic and future-focused.

A heartfelt thank you to the Portland Workforce Alliance for organizing such a meaningful event, and to all the students who stopped by to learn more. We love being part of this important moment in students’ career journeys—and we’re already looking forward to next year!
