April was World Landscape Architecture Month, did you celebrate it? We shared some sketches done by three people at GreenWorks, and we asked them to tell us more about why they chose this profession.

All month, landscape architects showcased how our work impacts the lives of people in our world. It’s an effort to increase public awareness of the vital service we all provide.

In addition to public awareness, members of ASLA use it as a time to encourage our elected leaders to act on issues we care about, like professional licensure and parks legislation; and it’s a time to showcase educational opportunities, career discovery outreach tools, and practice resources that are also available.

Paul Agrimis, RLA, PE has joined the GreenWorks team as a Principal and we’re thrilled to have him. Paul brings over 20 years of leadership experience on public infrastructure and natural resources restoration projects with extensive public involvement and stakeholder engagement skills. Paul’s work has a strong thread of context sensitive design and planning on multiple levels. He has led numerous distinctive natural area parks and restoration projects across the Pacific Northwest for Vigil-Agrimis, Environmental Science Associates, and Agrimis Planning + Design. His work also includes park system master planning, park master planning, trails, and bioengineering.

The Water Pollution Control Lab (WPCL) is an icon of Portland’s history as a leader in green infrastructure. The lab helps protect water quality in the region and sits near the span of the historic St. John’s Bridge.

Its design links the environs with adjacent Cathedral Park and the project’s original team of Murase Associates, Miller Hull Architects, and SERA Architects (for the City of Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services [BES]) won many awards for the design, including Portland and Seattle AIA awards, a BPA Architecture and Energy Merit Award, and a 1999 ASLA Honor Award.

A Senior Landscape Designer/Architect & Project Manager will collaborate in a team environment to market, manage business development efforts, design, coordinate and present ideas relating to a variety of challenging planning and design projects. 

This individual demonstrates creativity, foresight, and maturity in design judgment when anticipating and solving design complexities. It is essential to pass on your knowledge to others and support a continuous learning environment. Team building and motivation are also key responsibilities.
